2nd year architecture final project
had to creatively build a house
and i built something on water that resembles a boat
almost everything moves, constructed of all moving parts etc
the oars move, windows(diaphram) spins etc

Thought you are making a boat, hahaha! Illusion concept eh? not bad. If those fins are not shading device, it will surely make great for superficial stuff and above all else, if the "house" can be steered, that would be awesome.

you cant see it in the model, but the fins are movable, and there is a mechanism i made inside that allows all the fins to move at the same time if one fin moves, and the fins drive the circular "shell" on top of the boat

yes that is the point, house can be changed direction with the fins to get a different view/lighting depending on water current.

I think this is an interesting display of I guess what Venturi called the duck shed idea, the architecture resembles something. Um I appreciate the level of craft I see, and love the plexi you used. I won't lie, I think its a bit too literal like wow I really will think boat immediately. An example of a less literal building is a design by santiago calatrava in spain where the shape started to resemble a spanish armada helmit but it took me a good 10 mins to get it.

I would love to see a plan or section to really clue in how this isn't and you'll forgive me but a house boat. I'm also curious about the structure and if you had to consider it. I ask b/c the model shows that the house is sitting on what look like massive what I assume concrete foundations. Well what if the architecture became the structure? Those flaps you added, I'm really not sold on them but if they became a portion of the strucutre I would be sold. Maybe the bottom floor goes down to the grade which isn't a real big stretch considering the grade is not much further down. The circles that create a portion of the skin is interesting and I am curious about it.

As a conceptual idea I think it works, boats and water. I think however something is missing and I'm not even sure what it is. Its bold to take a concept of a boat and do representational architecture. I personally don't like that as I am incredibly abstract with my architecture but I can respect it. Forgive me if it sounds harsh but i'm just a fellow architect and for the sake of it, what did your critic/jury say about it?

hey : really nice modelling - like the concept : is it in response to the increasing shortage of green building land? you should think about enhancing it into some kind of modular/stacking system - especially that rotating section : nice work :horns:
